Fabulous Forties

Sacramento’s Fab Forties are located just a few blocks away from our Sutter Park community. This location is known best for President Ronald Regan’s residency during his term as Governor of California and as the home featured in the movie Ladybird. You could say the Fab Forties are world renowned and here’s why!

When the holidays rolls around, this community holds nothing back in decorations. The homes are lined in lights with collaborating decorations and extraordinary light shows. Street after street, you will find homes decorated in the most beautiful holidaylights.

From Thanksgiving through Christmas Day, you can drive, walk, bike, or ride down the streets of the Fab Forties. Local vendors will come on weekends and provide carriage rides, bike bars, wagon rides, and so much more.

California International Marathon

Every year, Sacramento hostsThe Fastest Course in the West! The California International Marathon, or CIM, is a two day event offering 5ks, a relay marathon, and a 26.2 mile marathon. Not only is this marathon a qualifier for the Boston Marathon, but also for the US Olympic Trials Marathon.

This year due to regulations, the 5k has taken a one year hiatus but will be back for elite runners down to tiny tikes in 2022. What has not been cancelled is the Marathon itself. December 5, 2021 will be filled with runners starting in Folsom all the way to the Capital.

Whether you run in the race or you cheer on your local runners, the community atmosphere is huge. CIM is backed by over 4,000 volunteers all supporting local and visiting runners. Just take a short walk from your Sutter Park home to J street and you will see thousands of runners making their way to the Capitol.

(Here’s a fun fact: The CIM has the highest port-a-potty to runner ratio in the country, meaning everyone is able to use the restroom as needed. Talk about convenience!)
