Camellia Tree Replanting

The original Camellia Tree was planted in 1937 by the Sutter Memorial Hospital nurses. With a crane, the shrub was carefully lifted out of the ground and relocated to a nearby nursery where it would wait to be replanted. Recently, this 81-year old tree was placed in the Sutter Park community by a large crane. Sutter Hospital history notes that this Camellia is the oldest living Camellia in Sacramento!
